My research focuses on inequality in university access, with a particular emphasis on economic and gender disparities in enrollment opportunities.
University enrollment rates have continued to rise, and need-based scholarships have been expanded, so one might hear voices suggesting that inequality has been resolved. Concerns about the number of universities are also growing in response to the declining birthrate.
However, it is important to note that inequality persists. What should be done? For instance, the consideration of tuition-free policy gives rise to questions regarding the balance between equality and efficiency, as well as the identification of those who stand to benefit from educational outcomes. What is the relationship between the policy and measures to address the declining birthrate? There is a possibility that the policy will also have an impact on university management. Consequently, a range of research themes has emerged.
While I am aware of the complexity of examining inequality in university access, my primary focus will be on empirical research grounded in quantitative data.
